CQ-DW has a curative effect similar to i.p. administration in experimental animals. C57BL/6 mice (n = 20) were infected with 106 parasitized erythrocytes by i.v. injection at day 0. At day 2 post-infection, and thereafter daily, mice were administered chloroquine drinking water preparation (CQ-DW) or i.p. injection of chloroquine (CQ i.p.). Parasitemia percentage was calculated by Giemsa stain of blood smears (A) and animal survival was noted (B).
