  1. Field-grown plants were observed regularly for any change in morphological traits (inflorescence type, duration of leaf 'stay-green') during the study period and measurements were taken on selected growth parameters (Plant height, branches per plant, stems dry weight, number of flowers per raceme, root length and root dry weight per plant). Values are the means of two seasons (± SD). Different letters indicate that the values are significantly different at p < 0.001. NR: normal raceme; CR: compact raceme; BP: brief period; PP: prolonged period
