To measure knee height, the knee was bent to a 90° angle, and the distance from the undersurface of the heel (the heel rested on the caliper blade, and sandbags placed under the foot ensured that the foot remained level with the heel) along the calf to the anterior surface of the thigh over the femoral condyles (just proximal to the kneecap) was measured.
