Light microscopy findings at the first biopsy. (A) Many periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) positive paramesangial hemispherical deposits were observed, and hyaline-like materials occupied dilated capillary lumens. At the nine o’clock position, mesangiolysis was also observed. (B) Subendothelial areas were markedly widened, and filled with hyaline-like materials, which were stained weaker than paramesangial hemispherical deposits. (C) Strong IgA deposition was observed in the mesangium and along capillary walls. (A) PAS staining; original magnification 400×.
