There was global cortical atrophy grade 1-2 with mild atrophy of the hippocampus (medial temporal lobe atrophy score, 1-2), on the left more pronounced than on the right. Compared to a magnetic resonance imaging scan performed one year earlier, there was no progression of these features. Furthermore, the T2-weighted images showed some punctuate subcortical hyperintensities but no other focal structural changes.
