Absorption spectra of PCC6803 and PCC7002 (a) before induction and (b) on day 6 after induction. The pigmentation of both ethanol producers (EtOH) changed with cultivation length and exhibited a shift in the PC / Chl ratio (620 nm / 680 nm) compared to the wt. The addition of ZnSO4 as inducer for PCC7002 had no impact on the pigmentation phenotype as shown for the wt culture spiked with 5 μM ZnSO4.
