  1. The ketogenic ratio gives the weight of fat relative to the combined weight of CHO and protein in the diet. For convenience, we used a caloric equivalent of 4 kcal for 1 g of protein. Note, however, that the caloric content of protein depends on its amino acid composition, with high-quality protein providing less energy since more of its amino acids are used for body protein syntheses instead of energy production
