South American fur seal (Arctocephalus australis) range of distribution through time. Emphasis should be placed on the incipient colonization of northern Chile by some specimens [10], the establishment of reproductive colonies in northern Chile [8, 17] and the closing of the gap of distribution in central Chile ([22], this study).
