The best reduced solutions obtained with the model structures m N N exp and m C N exp for the embryonic stage, as defined by a good reproduction of the data, a low number of parameters, a good robustness with respect to parameter variations and a good stability in time (corresponding to the two gray lines in Table 1). The arrows and dots represent activation and inhibition, respectively. The black and gray solid lines represent the connections shared by both solutions, with the same sign or opposite sign, respectively.
