From: Activation of the SOS response increases the frequency of small colony variants
Sub-inhibitory concentrations of DNA-damaging agents activate the SOS-response. Activation of the SOS-response was monitored as β-galactosidase activity from a recA::lacZ fusion in strain 8325-4, when grown in absence (NO AB) or in the presence of sub-inhibitory concentrations of CIP (Ciprofloxacin), MXF (Moxifloxacin), MMC (Mitomycin C), VAN (Vancomycin), RIF (Rifampicin) and CAM (Chloramphenicol).
