Compartment model for Verocytotoxigenic Escherichia coli (VTEC) transmission in humans. Susceptible people (S) are first exposed to VTEC through food (Ef) at a rate of βf or through infected people (Ep) at a rate of βp. They become clinically infected (I) and infectious to others at a rate inversely proportional to the incubation period (\(\delta\)). Infected individuals become recovered (R) from infection at a rate inversely proportional to the duration of infection (\(\gamma\))
